Kelley

Meet Kelley. Kelley is a single mom working at Wal-Mart. She ordered a Wal-Mart money card so that her checks could be directly deposited onto it, but they sent the card to her old address. She was told her card would be received within ten business days, but she is unable to access her paychecks until then. In order to pay her electric bill, she asked her supervisor if a paper check could be printed off for her in the meantime. She was told this was not possible since the paychecks were already uploaded to this card, and the card is distributed through a third-party company. This, obviously, put Kelley in a tough spot. With no way to pay her bills, she had nowhere else to turn but to one of our agency partners. They tried to get her assistance through the LIHEAP program, but that takes time…and Kelley needs help immediately. We gladly stepped in to help Kelley with this bill to help get her through this tough situation.

If Kelley’s story has taught us anything, it’s that we are all one inconvenience away from financial instability.
